Horse Boarding Prices - Stable Rates - Costs
Challis Creek Ranch (CCR) offers a wide range of short and long term horse boarding services to meet your explicit needs. A copy of our Boarding Agreement with Exhibit Two outlining applicable rates for available services can be requested utilizing the Information Request Form. The specific service categories are:
Boarding for Retired or Aging Horses
Retired horses are boarded at a monthly base rate payable quarterly in advance. Lifetime Charges are available and would be negotiated on a case by case basis depending upon the age, health, and realistic life expectancy of your horse.
Recuperation Facilities & Care for Injured or Ill Horses
Recuperating horses requiring constant barn or stall confinement due to a need for continuous attention and/or blanketing are charged at a per diem rate. If moved to an outside stall for minimal movement during recuperation the per diem rate reduces until returned to their owner or a small, recuperating pasture confinement (with blanketing as needed) at a lesser weekly rate.
Mare Reproduction Services, Care & Foaling
Pregnant mares are boarded at a monthly rate through the eighth month (unless prior special care is required); this rate increases slightly the ninth month through birth and during the period with a foal at her side until weaned.
Imprinting, Care & Initial Training of Foals
Unless directed to the contrary by the owner all foals are Imprinted at birth and multiple times as deemed necessary in the first few weeks thereafter. Ongoing weanling training: Foals (weaned) in initial basic halter and ground training up to a year old are boarded at a separate monthly rate.

Veterinarian services are billed upon occurrence at our cost plus a Bookkeeping/Service Fee. Vaccinations administered by CCR (with prior written approval of the owner) are at CCR vaccine cost plus 15% plus a Vaccination Fee (per horse). Farrier costs are at the then current charge for local Farrier services. Should tranquilizing be required for behavioral problems applicable veterinary charges will be added. A Challis Creek Ranch Cemetery site and burial service (plus veterinary euthanizing, when applicable) is available. This service includes installation of a reasonable sized grave marker (if desired) to be provided by the owner.
For the Safety or Convenience of All Our Boarders
The State Of Idaho requires any horse(s) transported into the State to have a current negative Coggins Test prior to and certification thereof accompanying the horse during such transport. A current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection is also required and a copy thereof should accompany the horse during transport. Some states require a Brand Inspection for transport out of or through their state. Check with your appropriate authorities or your veterinarian as to these requirements prior to transporting through all states in route. All horses will be quarantined upon arrival for a period of two (2) weeks before being released into the general population or allowed to have any direct contact with other boarders. During the Quarantine Period each horse will receive a complete physical examination including any required blood testing by a local veterinarian to insure a sound and disease free condition. We reserve the right to refuse boarding of any horse(s) that, in our opinion, embraces a disposition and/or frequently demonstrates behavior that we feel could be detrimental or dangerous to other boarders and/or our personnel.
Board charges are on a monthly basis invoiced quarterly approximately 30 days in advance. Scheduled optional services or non scheduled infrequent services are billed separately monthly as they occur and are due upon receipt of invoice. Invoicing, client statements, periodically (at least bimonthly) updated photographs, occasional video and text updates (again at least bimonthly) on their horse are available via their own personal webpage on our website, www.RandRforHorses.com, accessible only with their personal login and password. For anyone without electronic or Internet capabilities USPS "Snail Mail" will be utilized for invoicing and statements.
